Building Department

Vale have been putting in the foundations, base-works and landscaping around our conservatories for over 25 years, for those that wish to use our service. Providing a full and comprehensive service for our clients is important. Our Building Division has developed over the years, expanding on the services we offer.

The team at Vale has a wealth of experience to guide and advise you through your decision-making process, whether it is a straightforward addition to your home or a more complex process involving demolition, site problems and structural alterations.

Our building offices are sited alongside our site installation team and the two departments work very closely to provide a streamlined and seamless process on site from start to finish. Close liaison with the factory and Interiors department is required to co-ordinate floors, heating and lighting and other areas where the team work together.

Extent Of The Work

The Vale Building Division is able to offer a comprehensive range of services, covering all aspects related to the installation of a conservatory and surrounding area. We frequently handle the demolition and disposal of old buildings and existing conservatories as well as removal of trees.

Excavation of foundations can raise hidden and unexpected problems and we are used to dealing with these as they arise. This can range from hidden wells to unusual ground conditions. We dig and prepare standard foundations, lay raft foundations, deal with piling and are used to all manner of ground and drainage options and solutions.

Creating new openings whilst you are occupying your home is something else that we frequently undertake, always making sure that you are subject to minimum disruption.

An important element is sourcing the correct materials for the project, whether specified by Listed Building Consent or to suit a client’s particular request. All aspects of Building Control are also undertaken if a requirement, which includes applying for Building Regulations, meeting with the inspectors and providing the client with final certificates.

Once the conservatory is erected, we can co-ordinate the laying of floors, electrics, plumbing, heating, specialist joinery and final decorating, ensuring we provide you with excellent client liaison and keeping you informed and updated every step of the way.

Four Case Studies

The project involved clearing the area to lay foundations and base. Remit included creating a new opening to link living room to conservatory, new fireplace, plastering, decorating and additional joinery work. Underfloor heating and stone floor complete the room and new terrace finishes outside.
Following removal of a dilapidated conservatory, substantial excavation and foundations were laid for new conservatory, retaining wall for a room below and steps leading to the garden. In addition, the new space was opened up into the kitchen to create an open plan family area. Terracing completed the exterior.
This was a difficult site regarding removal of waste and bringing new materials in. The conservatory provided a link to outbuildings which were completely renovated creating a wet room, and re roofed as part of the build. A terrace with wheelchair ramp was an important part of the final scheme.
This intricate build required hand-made shaped bricks to match the house. These were laid to create facets and arches using lime mortar. A secondary internal wall was created to protect the fabric of the building. Decorative columns conceal downpipes. Underfloor heating and stone floor complete the room.
