In 1982, Dennis Morton couldn’t find a greenhouse he liked, so he decided to design and make his own. Dennis had further design ideas and could see the potential for a business. Wife Denise, son Simon and daughter Lisa became involved and the family business known as Vale Garden Houses was born.
Taking up a chance cancellation at the Chelsea Flower Show in 1984, Vale first exhibited summer houses and then conservatories and orangeries until 1996 and soon became recognised as the company with an eye for period detail and not afraid to push the boundaries.
Some 40 years later, Vale is one of the most respected and established companies in the U.K. specialising in the design and manufacture of glazed structures and being highly regarded within the construction and architectural professions.
The family are still fully committed and working daily in the design and manufacture of bespoke conservatories and orangeries.
Vale has come a long way from those early days, having designed and built our current manufacturing facility and offices in 2004. We also own and have developed three other sites, each housing different divisions and making our total production and stock area around 140,000 square feet.
We firmly believe the essence to quality control is to carry out all manufacturing operations in-house from patternmaking, metal workshops and powder coating, to making our own double-glazed units. Bringing all sections together in pre-erection results in the perfect build.
We employ around 200 staff, many having been with the company since the early years and have grown up with the Vale ethos for quality, passion and pride in our work. The team at Vale is loyal, hardworking and totally committed, each playing their part in the design and build of our structures and involving over 70 people in each project.
We openly encourage a teamwork approach throughout the business, and the family are involved at every level, working with the team on the designs, service and quality control of every product and department.
